The house is of stone construction and consists of two old barns that have been tastefully restored using the original materials wherever possible. It has breathtaking views across the valley to the hill top bastide town of Belves and the surrounding wooded hillsides
Entry to the house is through the imposing outer porch into a very large hall. Leading from this hall are:
Two double bedrooms, one with washbasin and razor point, and a triple bedded room. Each room has ample wardrobe space and an unrestricted view of the rolling countryside.
The main bathroom is close to all of the bedrooms and contains a double washbasin, huge mirror, razor point, full size bath, and separate shower, plus a heated towel rail. One of the toilets is adjacent to these bedrooms.
The nearby utility/games room contains table tennis, small snooker table, washing machine, ironing board, and double sink. All ground floor rooms have tiled floors. There is a second shower room with a washbasin and adjacent to it the second toilet.
First Floor:
There is a staircase up from the hall to the living area. Designed as open plan, this large spacious room has magnificent exposed timbers and a highly insulated ceiling helping greatly to moderate the temperature even in the height of summer.
Also on the first floor is the kitchen, fitted to the highest standards with tiled work surfaces, double sink, dishwasher, microwave oven, fridge/freezer,gas coker, with two ovens and an eye level grill. There is a large table with sufficient chairs. We have recently installed a TV that receives English programmes through a Sky 'free to view' box, a DVD player,a CD/tape player/radio. The imposing stone fireplace provides log fires in Spring and Autumn and has a flower display in the Summer. Around it are grouped two comfortable easy chairs, and two settees and a nest of coffee tables as well as a corner unit containing books, puzzles, and magazines.
A covered terrace runs the entire width of the house. It is equipped with a large weatherproof table and chairs and a power point. This terrace catches the afternoon and evening sun and is the ideal point from which to enjoy a leisurely evening meal whilst savouring the panoramic view over the valley towards Belves.
On a bright summer's morning, it is delightful to use the other covered terrace, which is at the top of the outsdide staircase, for breakfast, and gaze across to St Germain and plan the day's activities.
At ground level is the car parking, gravel courtyard ( ideal for boule, a set is provided ) and access to the grassed area which contains fruit trees and flowering shrubs.
The private heated pool is also at ground level. It is 26' x 13' and is fully autmatic and will be serviced for you every seven days or less depending on the hot weather. A night cover for the retention of the daytime heat is also provided. There are also poolside loungers and a barbeque.
A telephone is available, a sheet showing the charges is next to the telephone. There are ample blankets and pillows and linen can be hired upon request in advance This has proved very popular with people flying into Bergerac airport.
There are a number of files in the house setting out local information, a guide to local restaurants and towns to visit and things to do.
